Question: Did Jesus know who He was when He was born?
Answer: One of the most fascinating truths in the Word of God concerns the life of the Lord Jesus while on earth. It, of course, began with His birth in Bethlehem about two thousand years ago.
The Birth of the Lord Jesus is one of the most remarkable acts of love this world has ever known. The Bible says "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son . . ." When God the Father sent His son to this earth He knew what was going to befall His beloved son. He knew that He would end up on the cross, suffering a most agonizing death. I shutter when I think about His love for me. How could He love me enough to willingly give His son for me? I don’t really understand it, but I know that it is true.
When Jesus came into this world he did not come into this world in a spectacular fashion. He came by natural birth. He was not born in a mansion, but rather a barn. His beginning was modest. His death tragic, but the future is glorious.
The Lord Jesus is often referred to as the God-Man. Some say that He was part man and part God but, in truth, He was all man and all God. One must understand that at no time did the Lord ever forsake his Deity.
As a baby He had the understanding of
a baby, but as God He knew who He was and He knew His destiny.
